Improvement organisations sign up to The #QiComms Charter from across the world

Over 50 healthcare improvement organisations from across the world have signed up to The #QiComms Charter since it was launched at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Amsterdam last month.

From Australia to Bahrain, South Africa to Denmark, India to Wales, Saudia Arabia to the US, improvement leaders have been committing to recognise and integrate strategic communications into their work.

“It has been encouraging to see the positive way in which the Charter has been received,” said Inge Kristensen, CEO of the Danish Society for Patient Safety. She was one of the first CEO’s to sign the Charter when it was launched in May.

New Charter aims to make strategic communications an essential part of quality improvement

“It has also started a wider conversation on the role of communications in improvement, which we believe will support and accelerate work taking place to improve outcomes for patients.”

Danish Medical Journal: “Communications to enhance quality work”

“We have been able to start to build a picture of how communications is being used to support improvement – and there is a clear need for a more widely understood and structured approach to be taken. These insights will inform the work of the International #QiComms Group which developed the Charter.”

The Charter’s seven principles are:

  • We will use #QiComms to accelerate our improvement work for the benefit of patients and everyone we serve.
  • We will plan out #QiComms from the start.
  • We will give #QiComms support at the highest level.
  • We will take a strategic approach to #QiComms.
  • We will make our #QiComms evidence-based.
  • We will continuously improve our #QiComms.
  • We will put people at the centre of our #QiComms.

“We are encouraging all colleagues who are committed to improvement to sign The #QiComms Charter to support their work and contribute to the wider conversation around the impact it can make,” said Inge Kristensen.
